
Biography
ShengChiun Lin (1994) is a Taiwanese cellist based in the Netherlands.
In 2013, ShengChiun went to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam to pursue a Bachelor's degree in cello performance, studying under Maarten Mostert, one of the founders of the Cello Biennale Amsterdam. He subsequently obtained his Master's degree in cello performance at the same institution in 2021, studying under Jelena Očić.
In 2020, ShengChiun Lin completed a Master's degree in string quartet performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied under the esteemed Quatuor Danel. He further honed his craft at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover in Germany under the guidance of Professor Oliver Wille. That same year, ShengChiun achieved notable recognition by winning second prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb String Quartet Competition in Germany. His talent has earned him invitations to perform at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Nationale Opera & Ballet, Leidse Schouwburg – Stadsgehoorzaal, TivoliVredenburg Utrecht, Conservatoire de Paris, Casa da Música Porto, and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian Lisboa, among others.
Currently, ShengChiun collaborates with Taiwanese composer Ling Hsuan Huang to perform contemporary music works in various exhibition spaces across the Netherlands. He also works closely with interdisciplinary artist Reza Mirabi as a resident artist at BAU, Amsterdam, and has performed in multiple cross-disciplinary festivals such as Julidans and ICK in Amsterdam. In addition, ShengChiun has formed a duo with Dutch harpist Joost Willemze and established the piano quartet "Het Haarlem PianoKwartet." Since 2022, he has been supported by the Amsterdams Fund for the Arts (Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst) as the Artistic Director of Chamber X Chamber.
